Prized Possessions

I finally figured out how to use the three gemstones I received from the Daily Beading contest way back in July. I got the idea from a book or magazine I read in the last couple months where the jewelry designer found a way to make necklaces with the ability to change the look of them to suite the wearer. I’m doing this with these pieces, though I haven’t figured out yet what I’ll be using to make them changeable — and easily at that too.

I’m making each gemstone the focal point of the part of the necklace that will be changeable. For each gemstone I have used the same knotting technique — lark’s head knots — and have wire wrapped the gemstone. The difference between each are the color of hemp cord and wood beads I’ve used.

The picture shown here is the first one. I’m in the middle of creating the last one and hope to have the final pieces done tomorrow…

Though still have to figure out how to make them changeable! lol The idea of creating a simple knotted chain with a button to be looped through each piece and have a loop of its own, has been going through my mind all day. Thinking that might be what I will end up doing as it’s the only solutions I have come up with so far.
