All over the place and going no where

These past couple of weeks have seen very little progress within things for me. I seem to be jumping from one project to the next without really getting much done. Not sure if that’s because of how I’m feeling physically (dealing with a virus that has entered my bronchial tubes for the past couple of weeks), or if it’s a case of getting “cold feet” in respect to succeeding at my goal of being financially independent.  It also might be that I’m letting my parents thoughts of how “no matter how much work you might put into something, you will still end up getting no where”, and  frustration with their own problems get the better of me.

Now I don’t share that outlook, though I find it hard to ignore when I’m around them on a very regular basis, and end up being a sounding board for my Mom and her frustrations. Which I don’t mind at all. I just need to find a way to not let their thinking influence what I really want to be doing and going with my own life. It’s easy to say “in one ear and out another” but actually doing that is another matter, especially when you get this negativity about everything coming at you constantly. Am sure that staying at their place for a few days while they were in Halifax didn’t help matters much either. There is such an overwhelming presence of negativity and despair that smacks you when you walk into their place and seems to seep into you the longer you stay there. … if anyone has any suggestions on how to let this “go in one ear and right out the other” I’d be more than happy to hear them! Please do share! :)

On other fronts, DesignNewbie.com’s first course is almost done. I have the final writing to do and just the video/audio recording for it and it’ll be ready for students. Well sorta :) Will have to finish the student lounge and upload everything. Am still aiming for the first week of November to have this available to everyone.

I’m also in the midst of updating my business plan for TinaStephen International and its subsiduaries, tds Digital Web Solutions and DesignNewbie.

It’s my aim to get the portfolio for tds Digital Web Solutions updated over the next month, as it definitely needs it with having had a bunch of projects completed since it was last updated.

As for the 30 Day Challenge, I’ve finished it, though because I haven’t put my entire effort into it I did not see any monetary value come my way. However, I have been implementing what I learned to DesignNewbie.com and have started to see some results, which is definitely promising, and plan on continuing to use the 30DC training to get the word out about the student membership for DesignNewbie.com.

That’s it from me for now. Think I’m ready to head back to the couch to take a bit of a nap or at least rest a while. Am SO hoping that with the antibiotics my doctor gave me yesterday will kick this virus into oblivion and do it soon.  Jordyn’s sick also with the same thing and got the same antibiotics from our doctor, so hoping the same thing for him too.

Ed Dale on Web 2.0

I’ve been following Ed Dale on twitter for almost two months now, and have had the pleasure of his training within the 30 Day Challenge this past month (and a bit)… earlier today Ed posted a video he did where he talks about web 2.0 platforms such as Facebook and how it’s akin to how Window’s changed the world with it’s operating system. He also mentions how some people within the Internet Marketing community are belittling the effect that web 2.0 platforms have… saying that they’re really just a fad or what have you that will just fade in the next few months.

Some people are reluctant to change and this is so apparent in some people’s statements within the Internet Marketing community. As others do, it makes me wonder why some people are here trying to build their own online business if all they’re going to do is stick with what’s making the rounds within the Internet Marketing community time and time again, and not embrace what’s going on around them within their own marketing efforts - and I might add learning how to use those things ethically and legally.

If you’re one of those people, and even if you’re not, I highly suggest you listen to what Ed has to say in this video… it just might change how you perceive the changing world around you.
